Introduction

The ACPL-3130 contains a GaAsP LED, while the ACPL-J313 and ANCW3130 contain an AlGaAs LED. The LED is optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. These optocouplers are ideally suited for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. The high operating voltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltage required for gate control devices. The voltage and current provided by these optocouplers make them well suited for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200 V/100 A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the ACPL-3130 series can be used to drive a discrete power stage, which in turn drives the IGBT gate. The ANCW3130 offers the highest insulation voltage under IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5, with VIORM = 1414 V peak. The ACPL-J313 has an insulation voltage of VIORM = 1230 V peak, and the ACPL-3130 (Option 060) is also available with VIORM = 630 V peak. Note that a 0.1μF bypass capacitor must be connected between the VCC and VEE pins.
