Introduction

The HCPL-T250 contains a GaAs LED optically coupled to an IC with a power output stage. This optocoupler is ideally suited for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. The high operating voltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltage required for gate-controlled devices. The voltage and current provided by this optocoupler make it ideal for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200 V/25 A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the HCPL-T250 can be used to drive a discrete power stage, which in turn drives the IGBT gate.
