Introduction

The ACPL-330J is an advanced, easy-to-use intelligent gate driver with 1.5A output current that makes IGBT VCE fault protection compact, cost-effective, and easy to implement. Features such as integrated VCE sensing, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), "soft" IGBT turn-off, isolated open-collector fault feedback, and active Miller clamp provide maximum design flexibility and circuit protection. The ACPL-330J contains an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to an IC with a power output stage. The ACPL-330J is ideally suited for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. These optocouplers provide the voltage and current levels required for direct drive of IGBTs rated up to 1200V and 100A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the ACPL-330J can be used to drive a discrete power stage that drives the IGBT gate. The ACPL-330J has an isolation voltage of VIORM = 1414VPEAK.
