Introduction
The ACPL-P340/W340 contains an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. This optocoupler is ideally suited for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. The high operating voltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltage required for gate-controlled devices. The voltage and high peak output current delivered by this optocoupler make it well suited for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200V/50A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the optocoupler can be used to drive a discrete power stage, which in turn drives the IGBT gate. Per IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-2, the ACPL-P340 and ACPL-W340 offer insulation voltages of up to 891V peak and 1140V peak, respectively.
