Introduction

The ACPL-333J is an advanced 2.5A output current, easy-to-use intelligent gate driver that makes VCE fault protection for IGBTs compact, cost-effective, and easy to implement. Features such as integrated VCE detection, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), "soft" IGBT turn-off, isolated open-collector fault feedback, active Miller clamp, and auto fault reset provide maximum design flexibility and circuit protection. The ACPL-333J contains an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to an IC with a power output stage. The ACPL-333J is ideal for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. These optocouplers provide the voltage and current that make them well suited for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200V and 150A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the ACPL-333J can be used to drive a discrete power stage that drives the IGBT gate. The ACPL-333J has an insulation voltage of VIORM = 1414VPEAK.
