Introduction

The FOD8316 is an advanced 2.5A output current IGBT gate drive optocoupler capable of driving most 1200V/150A IGBTs. It is ideal for fast switching drive of power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications and high-performance power systems. It also provides critical protection functions to prevent fault conditions that can cause destructive thermal runaway in IGBTs.

The device utilizes the patented coplanar packaging technology Optoplanar with optimized IC design, achieving high noise immunity through high common-mode rejection and power supply rejection specifications.

It incorporates an integrated gate drive optocoupler using low RDS(ON) CMOS transistors for IGBT rail-to-rail drive, along with integrated high-speed isolated feedback for fault detection. The device comes in a compact 16-pin small-outline plastic package that meets 8mm creepage and clearance requirements.
