Introduction

The ISO7131, ISO7140, and ISO7141 devices provide 2500 V_RMS current isolation for up to 1 minute in accordance with UL standards and 4242 V_PK in accordance with VDE standards. The ISO7131 has three channels, two of which are forward channels and one is a reverse channel. Both the ISO7140 and ISO7141 are four-channel isolators; the ISO7140 has four forward channels, while the ISO7141 has three forward channels and one reverse channel. These devices can provide maximum data transfer rates of 50Mbps and 40Mbps respectively when powered by a 5V supply and a 3.3V/2.7V supply, and feature integrated filters on the inputs, making them suitable for noise-sensitive applications. The suffix F indicates that the default output state is low; otherwise, the default output state is high. The logic inputs and output buffers of each isolated channel are separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation barrier. When used with an isolated power supply, these devices prevent noise currents on the data bus or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuits. These devices have transistor-transistor logic (TTL) input thresholds and can operate when powered by 2.7V, 3.3V, and 5V voltages. When powered by a 2.7V or 3.3V supply, all inputs can tolerate 5V voltages.
