Introduction

The ISO7831 is a high-performance three-channel digital isolator with a maximum isolation voltage of 8000 VPK. This device has passed the enhanced isolation certification compliant with VDE, CSA, and CQC standards. When isolating CMOS or LVCMOS digital I/Os, the isolator offers high electromagnetic immunity, low radiation, and low power consumption. The logic input and output buffers of each isolation channel are separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation barrier. This device is equipped with an enable pin, which can be used to place the corresponding outputs in multiple master-drive applications in a high-impedance state and also to reduce power consumption. The ISO7831 has two forward channels and one reverse channel. In the event of input power or signal loss, the ISO7831 device outputs a default "high" level, while the ISO7831F device outputs a default "low" level. When used with an isolated power supply, this device can prevent noise currents on the data bus or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuits. Thanks to the innovative chip design and wiring technology, the electromagnetic compatibility of the ISO7831 has been significantly enhanced, ensuring system-level ESD, EFT, and surge protection and compliance with radiation standards. The ISO7831 comes in a 16-pin small-outline integrated circuit (SOIC) wide-body (DW) package.
