Introduction

The Si88xx integrates Skyworks' proven digital isolator technology with an on-chip isolated DC-DC converter that delivers a regulated output voltage of 3.3 V or 5.0 V (greater than 5 V with external components) at peak output power levels up to 5 W. These devices offer up to four digital channels. The DC-DC converter features user-adjustable frequency to reduce emissions, soft-start for safe operation, shutdown options, and loop compensation. The device requires minimal passive components and a single miniature transformer. The ultra-low-power digital isolation channels offer significant advantages over traditional isolation technologies in data rate, propagation delay, size, and reliability. Data rates up to 100 Mbps are supported, with a maximum propagation delay of only 23 ns across all devices. Ordering options include selection of DC-DC converter functionality, isolation channel configuration, and failsafe mode. All products are UL, CSA, VDE, and CQC certified. Automotive-grade products are also available, manufactured using automotive-specific processes at every step to ensure the robustness and low defect rates required for automotive applications.
