Introduction

The IL3685 series are second-generation isolated high-speed differential bus transceivers. These devices utilize NVE's patented spintronic giant magnetoresistance (GMR) technology and feature advanced capabilities including hot-swap protection and PROFIBUS compliance. The wide-body version provides a true 8mm creepage distance. Narrow-body and QSOP packages achieve unprecedented miniaturization. A unique ceramic/polymer composite isolation barrier delivers excellent isolation performance and virtually unlimited barrier lifetime. The devices are compatible with 3V and 5V supply inputs, enabling direct interfacing with standard microcontrollers without additional level translation. Current limiting and thermal shutdown protection prevent excessive power dissipation due to output short circuits and bus contention. The receiver inputs feature an open-circuit failsafe design, ensuring the R output remains logic-high when A/B are floating.
