Introduction

The CA‐IS383x is a high-performance, three-channel digital isolator with precise timing characteristics and low power dissipation. When isolating CMOS digital I/O, CA‐IS383x devices provide high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions. All device versions feature Schmitt-trigger inputs for high noise immunity. The logic input and output buffers of each isolation channel are separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO2) dielectric barrier. The CA‐IS3830 has all three channels in the same direction with output enable on the output side (Side B), while the CA‐IS3831 has two forward and one reverse channel with output enable on both sides. All devices offer a failsafe mode option. If the input-side power supply fails or the signal is lost, devices with suffix L default to a low output, while devices with suffix H default to a high output. CA‐IS383x devices feature high isolation capability, helping to prevent noise and surges on data buses or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuits. High CMTI capability ensures correct transmission of digital signals. CA‐IS383x devices are available in 16-pin wide-body SOIC and 16-pin extra-wide-body SOIC packages. The wide-body package supports isolation withstand voltage up to 5.7kVrms. The extra-wide-body package supports isolation withstand voltage up to 7.5kVrms. Channel A and Channel B are separated by an isolation capacitor. GNDA and GNDB are connected to the isolated grounds of the Side A signal and Side B power supply, respectively.
