Introduction

The ISO7821 is a high-performance dual-channel digital isolator with a maximum isolation voltage of 8000 VPK. This device has passed the enhanced isolation certification compliant with VDE, CSA, CQC, and TUV standards. The isolator offers high electromagnetic immunity and low radiation with low power consumption while isolating CMOS or LVCMOS digital I/Os. Each isolation channel has logic input and output buffers, which are isolated by a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation gate. The ISO7821 has one forward channel and one reverse channel. If the input power or signal is lost, the ISO7821 device outputs a 'high level' by default, while the ISO7821F device outputs a 'low level' by default. When used with an isolated power supply, this device prevents noise current on the data bus or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuits. Thanks to the innovative chip design and wiring technology, the electromagnetic compatibility of the ISO7821 is significantly enhanced, ensuring system-level ESD, EFT, and surge protection and compliance with radiation standards. The ISO7821 is available in 16-pin SOIC wide-body (DW) and ultra-wide-body (DWW) packages. The DWW package option features an enable pin, which can be used to put the respective output in a high-impedance state, making it suitable for multi-master drive applications and reducing power consumption.
