Introduction

ISOW784x is a series of high-performance quad-channel reinforced digital isolators with an integrated high-efficiency power converter. The integrated DC/DC converter operates efficiently, delivering up to 650 mW of isolated power and is configurable for various input and output voltages. As a result, these devices eliminate the need for a separate isolated power supply in space-constrained isolated designs.

When isolating CMOS or LVCMOS digital I/O, the ISOW784x series devices provide high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions. The signal isolation channels feature logic input and output buffers separated by dual-capacitor silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation barriers, while power isolation uses an on-chip transformer with thin-film polymer as the insulating material. Various forward and reverse channel configurations are available. If the input signal is lost, ISOW784x devices without the F suffix default to a high output, while devices with the F suffix default to a low output.

These devices help prevent noise currents on data buses (e.g., RS-485, RS-232, and CAN) or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. Through innovative chip design and layout techniques, the EMC performance of these devices is significantly enhanced, mitigating system-level ESD, EFT, and surge issues while meeting radiated emissions standards. The high power converter efficiency enables operation at elevated ambient temperatures. The devices are available in a 16-pin wide-body SOIC (SOIC-WB) DWE package.
