Introduction

This device is a cost-effective dual-channel digital isolator featuring precise timing characteristics and low power consumption. It provides high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions when isolating CMOS digital I/O. All versions are equipped with Schmitt trigger inputs for high noise immunity. Each isolation channel is isolated between the logic input and output buffers via a silicon dioxide insulating gate. The family offers different channel direction configurations: CA-IS3720C has two channels in the same direction, CA-IS3721C has one forward channel and one reverse channel, while CA-IS3722C has channel directions opposite to CA-IS3721C. All devices offer failsafe mode options — devices with suffix L default to a low output, and devices with suffix H default to a high output when the input-side power supply fails or the signal is lost.

The device features high isolation capability, helping to prevent noise and surges on data buses or other circuits from reaching the local ground, thereby avoiding interference with or damage to sensitive circuits. Its high common-mode transient immunity ensures correct transmission of digital signals. The device is available in 8-pin narrow-body SOIC, 8-pin wide-body SOIC, and 16-pin wide-body SOIC packages. Narrow-body package devices carry an isolation voltage rating of 3.75kV_RMS, while wide-body package devices support isolation voltage ratings of up to 5kV_RMS. This product family has obtained safety certifications including DIN V VDE V 0884-17:2021-10, UL1577, GB 4943.1-2022, and TUV.
