Introduction

Microchip Technology's HCS512 is a hopping code decoder for secure remote keyless entry (RKE) systems. The HCS512 utilizes the patented KEELOQ code hopping system and a high-security learning mechanism, providing a ready-made solution for one-way RKE systems when used with HCS encoders.

The manufacturer's code, transmitter key, and synchronization information are stored in protected on-chip EEPROM. The HCS512 uses DATA and CLK inputs to load the manufacturer's code, which cannot be read back from the device.

The HCS512 operates over a wide supply voltage range of 3.0V to 6.0V. The decoder features automatic baud rate detection to compensate for large variations in transmitter data rates. The decoder incorporates sophisticated error-checking algorithms to ensure that only valid codes are accepted.
