Introduction

These retriggerable monostable multivibrators provide designers with four inputs: two active-high and two active-low. This allows selection of leading-edge or trailing-edge triggering regardless of input transition time. When the triggering input conditions are met, a new timing cycle begins, the external capacitor rapidly discharges and then recharges. The retriggerable feature allows extension of the output pulse width. In fact, a continuous high-level output can be maintained by making the input cycle time shorter than the output cycle time. Connecting the Q̄ output to the active-low input inhibits retriggering.
