Introduction

True Digital Audio Amplifier (TDAA) represents a new paradigm in digital audio. A TDAA system consists of the TAS5012 PCM-to-PWM modulator device and the TAS5110 PWM power output device. The system accepts a serial PCM digital audio stream and converts it to a 3.3-V PWM audio stream (TAS5012). The TAS5110 device then delivers a high-power PWM output. This digital PWM signal is subsequently demodulated to provide power output for driving speakers. This patented technology delivers low-cost, high-quality, high-efficiency digital audio suited for the many audio systems developed for the digital age. The TAS5012 is an innovative, cost-effective, high-performance 24-bit stereo PCM-to-PWM modulator based on Equibit™ technology. It supports multiple serial input options, including right-justified (16-, 20-, or 24-bit), IIS (16-, 20-, or 24-bit), left-justified (16-bit), and DSP (16-bit) data formats. It is fully compatible with AES standard sample rates of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, and 192 kHz. The TAS5012 also provides de-emphasis functionality for 44.1-kHz and 48-kHz sample rates.
