Introduction

UA12 is a low-cost, high-performance universal asynchronous audio codec chip that achieves precise clock synchronization without a built-in PLL, supports all OS versions from Windows XP through Windows 11, and connects seamlessly to iOS via MFI extension cables. The chip features highly flexible I2S master/slave mode configuration, making it ideal for audio systems where an external DSP can supply the clock and recover the audio clock to synchronize the host audio clock — ensuring the entire system operates on a single audio clock with no PLL components or sample rate conversion algorithms required. In addition, UA12 offers a significant cost advantage and supports I/O port and ADC port expansion, with custom development services available.
