Introduction

ETA5001 is a dedicated IC for zero-crossing detection circuits, operating by sensing the input voltage. When the input line voltage falls below the threshold, ETA5001 drives an optocoupler to provide a zero-crossing detection signal to the application control system; when the input voltage exceeds the threshold, the output enters a high-impedance state.

ETA5001 features ultra-low power consumption with a quiescent current of less than 10μA, allowing most of the power to be used for driving the optocoupler to generate wider zero-crossing detection pulses for easier system detection. The IN pin incorporates a Schmitt trigger with a high-level threshold of 2.5V and a low-level threshold of 0.6V; the internal hysteresis also makes ETA5001 more effective at filtering glitches on the power line and reliably prevents false zero-crossing detection caused by noise on the power line signal.

ETA5001 integrates an internal rectifier diode to rectify the input voltage, requiring only a single capacitor to supply power to the IC and optocoupler; a Zener diode is also integrated at the input terminal to clamp the maximum voltage, resulting in a complete solution with minimal external components.

ETA5001 is available in a SOT23-3 package.
