Introduction

A high-efficiency synchronous buck power stage module containing two asymmetric MOSFETs and an integrated driver. The MOSFETs are individually optimized for operation in a synchronous buck configuration. The high-side MOSFET is optimized for low capacitance and low gate charge to enable fast switching at low duty cycle operation. The low-side MOSFET features ultra-low on-resistance to minimize conduction losses. The compact 5mm×5mm QFN package is optimized to minimize parasitic inductance, thereby reducing the EMI signature. The module uses PWM and/or FCCM inputs for precise control of power MOSFET switching activity, is compatible with 5V logic levels, and supports tri-state PWM. A bootstrap diode is integrated, and the low-side MOSFET can be driven into diode emulation mode to provide asynchronous operation and improve light-load performance. The pin layout is also optimized to reduce parasitic effects to a minimum.
