Introduction

Metal oxide varistors are designed for specific AC line operating voltages; sustained abnormal overvoltage conditions exceeding these limits may cause overheating and damage to the varistor. The TMOV®25S varistor series addresses this issue through a single integrated package. This series incorporates a patented thermally responsive element within the device that opens the varistor circuit when overheating occurs due to abnormal overvoltage events. The TMOV®25S varistor series meets UL1449 4th Edition certification requirements for surge suppression components used in cord-connected and permanently connected surge protective device end products.
