Introduction

The ZVX series varistor chips are low-energy (0.1 J) type, specifically designed to protect I/O line drivers and other sensitive semiconductor gates from the damaging effects of high-voltage, low-energy transients such as ESD events. Unlike most competing low-energy varistors, the ZVX series offers all the protection characteristics of standard varistor chips with extremely low capacitance. In these applications, as data transmission frequencies increase, lower capacitance is required to eliminate data signal distortion caused by capacitive loading. In most cases, the 1 kHz capacitance of the ZVX series is less than half that of typical competing varistors. Additionally, the series is available in 0603, 0805, and 1206 package sizes, with a voltage range extending from 3 V to 38 Vdc.
