Introduction

G-type Varistors (ZNR Surge Absorbers) are gapless surge arresters utilizing zinc oxide sintered bodies, featuring outstanding characteristics such as high energy handling capability, fast response time, and low clamping ratio. High-energy transient overvoltages generated by switching operations of vacuum relays in power distribution lines can cause insulation breakdown in high-voltage electronic equipment/devices and power cables. ZNR and G-type Varistors are widely used to protect high-voltage motors, transformers, rectifiers, and the anticorrosion coatings of power cables against high-energy transient overvoltages/surges.
