Introduction

Littelfuse CG7 series gas discharge tubes are miniature surface mount devices with a 1kA 8/20μS surge rating. Their low insertion loss and ultra-low off-state capacitance make them compatible with applications up to GHz RF bandwidth. The crowbar characteristic of these gas discharge tubes protects sensitive ICs from surge damage, complying with ITU K.20/21/45 basic and enhanced recommendations, GR-1089-CORE Level 1 lightning port Types 1 and 3, and IEC 61000-4-5 Edition 2. Hermetically sealed with non-radioactive materials, they meet enclosure requirements for Classes 1–3 and partial Classes 4 and 5, making them environmentally safe. At 2.8mm in diameter, they are the world's smallest dual-electrode single-gap gas discharge tubes.
