Introduction

Gas discharge tubes (GDTs) normally operate in a high-insulation-resistance state, equivalent to an open circuit, with virtually no impact on normal circuit operation. When a transient overvoltage occurs in the circuit and its amplitude exceeds the breakdown voltage of the GDT, the gas inside the tube becomes ionized, causing the GDT to conduct rapidly and clamp the overvoltage to a lower level, thereby protecting parallel-connected electronic equipment or circuit components from high-voltage surge damage. Once the overvoltage subsides, the GDT immediately returns to its high-insulation-resistance state and normal circuit operation resumes. The 2R-12P series is a GDT with follow current interruption capability, manufactured using advanced processes and high-quality materials, offering excellent durability and reliability.
