Introduction

The OPB818 slot switch consists of an infrared LED and an NPN silicon phototransistor mounted in a low-cost black plastic housing on opposite sides of a 0.200-inch (5.080 mm) wide slot. The phototransistor switches whenever an opaque object passes through the slot. The OPB818 is designed for direct soldering to a PCB or mounting in a standard DIP socket, with a slot depth of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) and width of 0.20 inches (5.08 mm). The aperture diameter on both the sensor side ("S") and emitter side ("E") is 0.033 inches (0.84 mm).
