Introduction

The solderable photodiode chip series offers a low-cost solution for applications requiring large-area active region photodetectors, with the option of wire leads or no leads for ease of assembly, or where the detector is considered "disposable." They feature low capacitance, moderate dark current, wide dynamic range, and high open-circuit voltage. These detectors are available with two 3-inch leads soldered to the front surface (anode) and rear surface (cathode). Two types of photodiode chips are available: the "photoconductive" series (SXXCL) for low capacitance and fast response, and the "photovoltaic" series (SXXVL) for low-noise applications. All devices are also available in chip form without any leads. For large signal output, the detector can be connected directly to an ammeter or shunt resistor for voltage measurement. Alternatively, the output can be measured directly with an oscilloscope or amplifier.
